press report:
KELLY MILK is a band that will inevitably change youth
culture (and therefore, all of western pop culture) from the ground up. We have
no alliance to any scene- chic or otherwise. We hold no DIY pretense about the
"evils" of money, fame, and beauty- on the contrary- WE WANT IT, and we will
have it. The reason for this is simply that Kelly Milk is comprised of beautiful
geniuses blessed by destiny. We are the musical and social
inheritors of the revolution throne; the next-in-line descendants of the Rolling
Stones, John Lennon, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Sex Pistols,
the Cars, Nirvana, Radiohead, and the Dandy Warhols. We're drunk and high on
speed. We're going to have teenyboppers and Morrisey wannabes eating out of our
hands- AT THE SAME TIME! You better fucking believe it because we've done it and
we're going to do it again. Kelly Milk does some pretty impressive cover songs
too. A crowd favorite is our version of the late Aliyah's "Dust yourself off and
try again"- complete with Sonic Youth-style guitar noise and reckless abandon.
We also do a mosh pit inducing, rendition of "the Safety Dance" by Men With Hats
and a somber, transcendent version of Boy George's "Do You Really Want to Hurt
Me?" Kelly Milk consists of four teenagers at the end of their rope, poor as
fuck and emotionally strung out. We will succeed because we have nothing else
waiting for us. We will live for this because we have nothing else to live for.
we don't care as much about fame as i do about being able to support myself by
what i love doing most.
